Catt Butt Face

I'm learning how to model, badly. Somehow, my cat ended up with a butt face. -_-

Green Fairy

This is my entry for the Green Fairy CHOW. It's really too rough to enter into the final CHOW, so I think of it more as a rough doodle.

Cintiq Doodle

Happy early birthday to me! I finally broke down and invested in a Cintiq. (Amazon had a refurbished 12wx for $800 instead of the normal 1k. It looks and acts brand new.)

So far, so good! I already am confident that I won't have buyers remorse. I'm still trying to wrestle my displays to display colors the same, but I'll figure it out eventually. I'm running a HD 23" Apple Cinema Display in XP64, so native color management is non-existent. The ACD is more saturated, as least compared to the Cintiq. I've been able to get them to match in Photoshop at least, so that's something.

Here's my first doodle to test the Cintiq: (Forgive the bad anatomy.)

Princess Daphne

I'm playing catch-up for the past few days of the video game monthly challenge.

This was made after I got the Cintiq, but I'm still posting it as Wednesday's. :)

I really don't know anything about color management in monitors or Photoshop. My Apple Cinema Display is either too saturated, or the Cintiq is too desaturated. Still trying to figure out how to get everything to display the same, except I think I messed up the color profiles in Photoshop, and now it looks uber saturated in browsers due to lack of ICC support. Blarg. >_<

Yet another experiment in Alias Sketchbook.

Clank

Clank from Ratchet and Clank. I'm getting a bit more comfortable in Alias Sketchbook-- it's getting a little easier to doodle in color.

Kid Icarus

I'm experimenting with doodling in Alias Sketchbook. In general, I want to work in color more, so I'm trying to simply my workflow by going all digital.

Yuna

This month I'm restarting my daily art challenge-- draw/paint a new drawing every day this month. The awesome Exmoure has volunteered to be my art gym buddy and help me work on my ART GLUTES.

For the entire month, we're going to take turns picking video game characters to draw. Today's pick? Yuna from FFX.

His version is fantastic. I decided to try something different and do a quick color/lighting study. I might do a more typical one later if time permits.

Corey, Ruler of Earth and Whales

Happy Earth Day. Little doodle of Corey. I hope that if he ever becomes dictator of the free world, he'll use this as his presidential portrait.

First 2D Animation Reel

Long story short for those not in the know: I'm an Animation Mentor student who didn't get to go into Class 2 thanks to a billing & disbursement error from Sallie Mae. I've been trying to make the most of it using the time to study animation on my own, all in 2D. (I posted my little curriculum on my livejournal for anyone interested.)

This is my first little 2D animation reel-- It's a collection of animation lessons and practices from both Brian Lemay's site and Animation Mentor. All pencil tests were done in Plastic Animation Paper. Bouncing balls, pendulums, and more basics of basic animation fundamentals.

Fiero Suave

This is another thank you fanart-- this time, for Exmoure from his much-missed Battle Forum! I had to throw some Jean-Luc Pikachu in for good measure. Below is the original sketch-- I had originally planned for a "good" and "bad" JLP, but we all know there is really only one.

Good God

Here's some fanart of the amazing Spookychan's Good God, from her God Machine graphic novel. She's a fantastic artist, so if you happen to like this piece at all, you'll absolutely adore her work. She has so much intricate detail in her pieces... it's really lovely and inspiring.

This is a small thanks for her help trying to promote my Etsy store. Not many people took a moment to try to help, but she did. Much love to her for that. <3

Owl Supervillain Animated

I've been working on this on and off the past few weeks, trying to come up with a nice color palette. Here's my Owl Supervillain, animated.

Scubagirl

Chris Sanders is absolutely amazing. Not only is he one of my favorite illustrators and animators of all time, but he also is kind enough to upload high res versions of his artwork for silly little fangirls like me to color.

I've been working on this on and off for the past few days. I'm super proud of this-- I'm incredibly happy with the color scheme, the background, and the fact that I was able to keep Chris' fantastic lineart but still give it a painterly quality that most of my stuff has.

I recommend viewing the full version to see the details.

I love coloring. :D

All done in Painter, with the exception of the bubbles in Photoshop.

Finished business cards

Megacon is coming! With a new site, comes new printed collateral.

I racked my brain for a week trying to come up with a good job title for myself. Multimedia artist technically covers web designer, illustrator, animator, etc, but it's so... uncreative-- especially for such a creative area. All the "standards" also seemed cliche: New Media Specialist, Digital Artist, Storyteller, etc. It didn't seem to really cover my diverse skillset or wax poetic.

Then suddenly, I was struck with inspiration: "Visual Alchemist."

Not only does it have a slight steampunk ring to it, but it really made sense: I work in so many programs, in so many different areas, trying to turn lead into visual gold. It conjures ideas of an aesthetic black magic.

Without further ado, front and back of my new cards.

Cel-Shaded WoW Concept Art

Corey and I are working on a music video idea for a WoW-related song by a certain awesome local nerdcore band. His blog post (and render test video) is much more informative and interesting than this one, so I recommend you check it out.

I've been working on developing the style of the characters and animation, so here's some concept art that I've created. These are serving as rough color guides as I repaint the textures for the models.

Dr. Sketchy Girl

The thought behind this is that the Orlando branch is located in the Mouse Kingdom, so a princess type would be cute as a mascot. She needs to be a bit more surly, bit it's a good start.

It's been a long time since I tried cell shading, so this was fun.
